Shen Yin (Fellow, IEEE) recbeu os títulos de M.Sc. e Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) da Universidade de Duisburg-Essen, Duisburg, Germany, em 2007 e 2012, respectivamente. ELe é DNV Endowed Full Professor do Departmento de Engenharia Mecânica e Industrial da Universidade Norueguesa de de Ciência e Tecnologia, Trondheim, Noruega. Os interesses de pesquisa dele incluem prognóstico/diagnóstico de falhas e tolerância a falhas, confiabilidade e segurança, otimização e monitoramento baseados em dados, teoria de controle e de sistemas, e aplicações em diagnóstico de saúde e sistemas ciberfísicos.
